Long Time No See!!

I know it has been quite awhile since I have posted to my blog, but I have been on vacation, got back to my day job and it has been hectic!!

So what is going on? Had a great vacation down at the jersey shore, nice weather, lots of fish and lots of sleep LOL!!

On the storefront, I have been buying and buying and buying, since I got back.

I have a load of game-used and auto cards that I am in the process of posting up, as well as I have some more autographed 8x10's on the way, more wrestlers and MMA stars. I purchased about 17 autographed footballs of various stars and hall of famers.

I also have some vintage baseball cards that I picked up, some stars and hall of famers, some are graded.

In addition to those, I have a very nice Ken Griffey Jr autographed Gartlan statue, and a mint ticket from a 1950's Boston Braves game. I am debating whether or not to send it in to get graded, we will see.

I also have a ton of game used and autos on my weekly specials page, as well as all of my supplies are on sale. Grab them up now at these rock bottom prices!!!!

Until next time.....

Michael Vick Signs two year deal with the Eagles

Now this sure caught me off guard! I did hear rumors 2 days ago about it, but I never thought it would come to light.

This opens up a whole lot of scenarios for the Eagles offense. Just one more weapon added to a roster filled with explosive talent. Should be a very interesting season for a team that is hungry for that trophy!

Here is the link to the story.

The Philly Curse Continues

The Philadelphia Eagles are saddened to announce Jim Johnson has passed away this afternoon at the age of 68 after a courageous battle with cancer.

A veteran of 22 years as an NFL assistant, Johnson is regarded as one of the top defensive masterminds in National Football League history. Over the last decade, he gained a great deal of notoriety as the orchestrator of the renowned Eagles defense. His aggressive style kept Philadelphia at or near the top of the NFL in nearly every major defensive category since joining Andy Reid's staff on January 22, 1999.

From 2000-08, Johnson's units ranked 2nd in the NFL in sacks (390), 3rd down efficiency (34.0%) and red zone touchdown percentage (43.9%), and fourth in fewest points allowed (17.7 per game). During his 10-year tenure in Philadelphia, the Eagles earned seven playoff berths, five trips to the NFC Championship game and one Super Bowl appearance (following the 2004 season).

As the Eagles defensive chief, Johnson's defense has produced 26 Pro Bowl selections: Brian Dawkins (7), Troy Vincent (5), Jeremiah Trotter (4), Hugh Douglas (3), Lito Sheppard (2), Asante Samuel (1), Trent Cole (1), Michael Lewis (1), Corey Simon (1), and Bobby Taylor (1).

Four of his defensive assistants have gone on to successful careers with other NFL franchises: Steve Spagnuolo (head coach of the St. Louis Rams), John Harbaugh (head coach of the Baltimore Ravens), Ron Rivera (defensive coordinator of the San Diego Chargers) and Leslie Frazier (defensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings).

Prior to his tenure in Philadelphia, Johnson served as the linebackers coach with Seattle in 1998. That year, Johnson helped the Seahawks register 10 touchdowns on defense, including eight interceptions returned for scores, 2nd most in NFL history. He arrived in Seattle after a four-year stint in Indianapolis, the last two as defensive coordinator. While with the Colts, Johnson helped them secure a berth in the AFC Championship game at Pittsburgh in 1995.

Johnson spent eight seasons with the Arizona Cardinals (1986-93). After overseeing the Cards defensive line for four seasons, Johnson excelled as their secondary coach, helping Aeneas Williams become the first rookie cornerback to lead the league in interceptions (6) since 1981.

Johnson began his coaching career as head coach at Missouri Southern (1967-68), before serving four-year tenures at Drake and Indiana. From 1977-83, Johnson served as defensive coordinator and assistant head coach at Notre Dame, a stint that included a national championship in 1977.

An all-conference quarterback himself at Missouri (where he played in the same backfield with long-time NFL executive Bill Tobin), Johnson went on to spend two seasons with Buffalo as a tight end (1963-64).

A native of Maywood, IL, Johnson (born 5/26/41) earned a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in physical education from Missouri.

Johnson is survived by his wife, Vicky, two children, Scott and Michelle, and four grandchildren, Katie, Justin, Brandon, and Jax

R.I.P. Steve McNair, You Will be Sadly Missed

Ex-NFL QB McNair found shot to death in condo

Former NFL quarterback Steve McNair was found shot to death Saturday. he was 36.

Steve McNair played 13 NFL seasons.
A woman was also found dead along with McNair in a Nashville condominium in an apparent double homicide.

A public information officer with the Nashville police, Don Aaron, confirmed the death. No further information has been released.

Titans owner Bud Adams also confirmed the quarterback's death in a brief statement released Saturday.

Adams called him "one of the finest players to play for our organization and one of the most beloved players by our fans. He played with unquestioned heart and leadership and led us to places that we had never reached, including our only Super Bowl."

McNair played 11 seasons in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans franchise and then spent two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.

He was a three-time Pro Bowler and was the Co-AP NFL MVP in 2003.

McNair played in the "Music City Miracle" game in 1999, when his Titans stunned the Buffalo Bills with a kickoff return touchdown in the final seconds in their AFC Wild Card playoff game.

McNair led the Titans to the Super Bowl that season, where they lost to the Rams. With the Titans driving for a potential game-tying score in the fourth quarter, McNair completed a pass to Kevin Dyson in the closing moments but Dyson was stopped at the 1-yard line.

You will be truly missed!!

Eagles, Phillies, and Weekly Specials

McNabb and the Eagles agreed late Thursday to restructure the final two years of his contract instead of extending his current deal. McNabb will collect $24.5 million over the next two seasons, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press. That’s a $5.3 million raise over two years.

Hopefully this new contract will inspire Donovan to pull out all the stops and get us to the Super Bowl again and hopefully the outcome will be better. With these new young wideouts we added to the roster, Donovan will have plenty of targets to go to. Desean Jackson should have another breakout season, Kevin Curtis is back healthy, and we need to get Maclin signed ASAP and get him to camp.

Westbrook's rehab is on schedule and should be ready to go for the regular season barring any set backs. It is still up in the air wherther he will get any playing time in the preseason.

Ryan Howard had a game tying homer last night in the ninth to send the Phils to their third consecutive extra inning game, but is was all for naught. This time they fell short in 13 innings in a 5-2 loss to the Red Sox.

Blanton allowed five hits, two runs and two walks and struck out seven in seven innings. But Red Sox left-hander Jon Lester pitched even better. He dominated the Phillies. And the rest of the Boston bullpen followed suit, too

After Lester allowed two hits, one run and two walks and struck out 11 in seven innings, Boston's bullpen allowed three hits, one run, three walks and struck out nine the rest of the way.

The Phillies set a franchise record with 20 strikeouts, although the nine-inning record remains Oct. 6, 1991, when Mets right-hander David Cone struck out 19.

We are having a weekend special which ends on 6/14/09. Buy two or more cards on my site and get a free magnetic or screwdown holder of your choice. Just email me at sales@jerseycoastcollectibles.com once you have placed your order and let me know which freebie you want.

Order 10 or more cards on my site this weekend and in addition to the free mag or screwdown, I will throw in sleeves, toploaders, or team bags.

This is for this weekend only! Use coupon code WS613 to take full advantage of this special offer.

Until next time, Have a great weekend!

Check out the pics I added!

I am going to post them on Fleabay for now and see what happens. If I have no action on them they will be added to my site. If you want to make me an offer, just shoot me an email at sales@jerseycoastcollectibles.com.

I also have more toploaders on the way for those of you that requested them. I have a case of 138pt, 197pt, and 240pt. They should be here the middle of the week.

I still am waiting for my Phillies lot and hopefully will get here soon. They are slow to ship at times. A real nice lot of autographed items.

The weather here in jersey sucks. Been raining the last 3 days and hopefully the system will be out of here by tonight. Should be a nice weekend. With the full moon on Sunday, the bass bite should turn on.

Have a great weekend!

Beautiful day at the Jersey Shore

It is a beautiful day here today on LBI, the sun is shining and the crowds are down. Very strange for the end of May.

Well, I hit my "so-called" hot spot last night, and as per usual I got skunked. I started out about 11pm between the tides and although it did smell a little fishy, I sure did not see or hear anything. Caught the usual garbage of sharks and skates, but the bass were a no-show. I packed it in about 9am when the curiosity seekers were hitting the beach. Was definitely not in the chatty mood to deal with them.

I did talk to quite a few others who also had the same results so at least I was not alone. Granted there were some fish taken on the North End (Banegat Light) but the south end guys had nothing to show for their efforts.

The beaches close tonight for the buggys for the summer, so I will be moving my stuff to my lite tackle bag, and start doing the walk on trips. Early am and late night. Daytime is out of the question due to the hordes that will be on the beaches. Ah yes got to love the "shoobies"!

I forgot to mention yesterday that I have 4 boxes of 2008 Razor Letterman Baseball boxes coming in tomorrow. I got a great price on them, and I will be busting two of them, and the other two are going on the site. So if you want them now, let me know, cause I do not think they will last at the price I am going to sell them for.

Until tomorrow, enjoy whats left of your weekend!

More specials added

The weekend is upon us, and with this beautiful weather here in jersey I have not had time to update my blog as often as I had hoped. I have been shuffling from home to the shore just about everyday and starting to get into my summer routine.

It takes its toll as I am beat after working 8+ hours and driving an hour to the shore, hitting the beach for some fishing and by the time I get back to the house it is time to get up and go back to work! Sure wish I was 21 again LOL!!

I know this is off topic but the spring striper fishing finally is starting to turn on. The bunker pods are just starting to amass off the surf, and when they get within casting range the bass are right under them.

There have been some big bass to 50lbs weighed in at the local shops and there have been plenty of 20's and 30's in the mix as well. I have 6 so far this spring with the largest being 27lbs. (all released).

So if there are any surf anglers reading my blog, get on down to the beach and cash in on the bassing while it lasts. They are going for the usual clams, bunker chunks, and when the bunker are off the beach, get out the poppers cause they are exploding on them! Better yet, put on that weighted treble and snag one of those bunker and liveline it just off the school and I guarantee you will have an instant hookup.

Back to the collecting front, I did not do well at all on the auctions that ended on Thursday, as usual the bidding wars were out of control! I did pick up a few nice pieces that I will be adding next week when they arrive.

Here is a list of the items I picked up...

Mean Joe Greene Autographed Mini-Helmet
Vijay Singh signed Masters Flag
Bruno Sammartino Autographed Title Belt

I also picked up a nice 150 piece Phillies lot that includes cards, jerseys, balls, bats, tickets, patches, posters, and photos. There are some really nice pieces in there and I can't wait to get them.

OK folks thats all for now, gonna take a nap, and I think I am going to pull an all-nighter on the beach and soak some clams and hope I can be in the right place at the right time. I have a good spot scouted and sure hope it produces!

Will have an update for you tomorrow.

It's Spring Time!!

Welcome to May! So Spring has finally arrived here in the Garden State. Thank goodness this friggin cold weather is gone. I am so sick and tired of being cold. These ole bones just can't take the winters here for much longer. Florida looks better and better everyday, LOL!

And of course with May arriving, so does this stinkin rain. Is is just me, or does it always have to rain on the weekends? Seems like whenever the temps get into the 70's and 80's it is beautiful during the work week, but as soon as Saturday hits..... RAIN!!

Early retirement looks better and better every day too!! LOL....

Not much going on with the sports card biz. I did have my best month so far in April, and with this month being only 2 days old, I am off and running again. Looks like it could be another banner month for me. I sure can use it. Thanks to everyone that is buying from me, and please make sure you spread the word!! You take care of me, and in turn I will take care of you.

If you refer a friend to my site, and they make a purchase, I will compensate you with a freebie!!
Just have them mention how they found the site, and your freebie will be on the way to you. The more referrels you send me, the more bennies you get!

I have more stuff on the way.... I have thick toploaders coming, I have some Basketball Memorabilia coming, some neat PGA Golf stuff like badges, pins, pens, ball markers, etc.

I have a few more autographed Yankees balls on the way, nothing spectacular, but I got them at good price, so the savings will be passed on to you. Paul O'Neill, Graig Nettles, Clete Boyer and Bernie Williams.

I am watching another high end card lot that is ending today, and if the price does not skyrocket I should be able to get it at a decent price. We will see....

Later guys!

Mini Helmets--- Autographed Baseballs

Hey gang!

Spent the weekend adding more cards. Nothing spectacular in this latest lot I purchased, but there are some interesting cards in there.

Put a few up on Fleabay, and as per usual, here we go again with the NPB's. After close to 10 years on there, I have heard every excuse in the book. It just gets ridiculous. Thank goodness I do not list much on there. The only downfall is I do need that greedy giant for exposure to my website.

Added some autographed baseballs, some more mini helmets, and I now have graded team bags for everyone that suggested that I get them. I do give discounts if you want to buy in bulk quantities!!

Any other suggestions as far as supplies go, just shoot me an email at mailto:sales@jerseycoastcollectibles.com and I will take care of it for you.

I have some bids in some neat memorabilia, such as autographed baseballs, some golf memorabilia, and few autographed football jerseys. Providing the bidding doesn't get out of control, I should be able to pick them up for a decent price.

I still am having a tough time picking up hockey stuff, so if anyone has a collection, or know of someone selling, let me know.

I am thinking of doing a mini-blowout sale this weekend, its still in the works, so stay tuned!!

Have a nice day!!

Rest In Peace Harry

You will be truly missed

Just before noon today, Harry Kalas got off the Phillies team bus and walked into the visiting clubhouse at Nationals Park. As always, Kalas said something nice to everyone he encountered, then stopped, pulled out a pen and wrote down the lineup which had been posted on the wall.
Lineup in hand, the Hall of Fame broadcaster rode the elevator to the press level and began preparing for a 3 p.m. game between the Phillies and Washington Nationals.
He never got to call the game.

Kalas, in his 39th season as narrator of all things Phillies, collapsed in the broadcast booth around 12:20 p.m. and died after being rushed to a nearby hospital. He was 73.

This is truly a sad day for Phillies fans, and all of baseball. Harry the K was the voice of the Phillies, and his unique voice will always be etched in my mind. I grew up listening to Harry and Richie calling the games, and to me they will never be replaced, and surely will never be forgotten.

I am sure glad that he got to call the final out in game 5 of the World Series, and those final words I will never forget "Swing and a miss, The Philadelphia Phillies are the 2008 World Champions of Baseball."

Harry, you will be sadly missed. Now you and Richie will be reunited once again.

Goodbye my friend....

Happy Easter everyone!!

Just stopped in to wish you all a Happy Easter!

Been very busy adding more stuff on my site. I updated the weekly specials with more game used, and autos for dirt cheap!

I busted a case of 2007 UD Sweet Spot Classic, and the case was a hot one! A lot of good cards came out of it, and I listed the majority of them on the site. Some are floating on Fleabay, so if you still buy on that lousy greedy site, they are there for the taking. LOL!! As you can see, I can't stand that site. All they do is cater to the buyers, and fee the living heck out of us sellers.

I had a Non-Paying Bidder last week that I gave him 3 weeks to pay on a 10 dollar card. As per usual, I filed against him, and yes of course he negged me! Not a darn thing I can do about it because Fleabay loves the buyers! I just suck it up and move on.

I have a bunch of stuff coming in next week!! 12 Autographed Baseballs such as Alomar, Boggs, Santo and others. I also bought a huge lot of cards with some real nice high end stuff in it.

Also have about 14 autographed mini helmets on the way! Some of the players are Vince Papale (for you Eagles fans) like me!! I might just keep that one.. A Trotter, Smith and Sheppard mult- signed, Demarcus Ware, Brandon Marshall, Steve Smith, and many others

So stop on by my site, http://jerseycoastcollectibles.com/ and check out my latest additions!

Oh almost forgot... I beefed up my supplies with some graded team bags, soft sleeves, toploaders and more.

Gotta go, lots of chores to do, weather is finally nice, so I am going to enjoy it!

Happy Easter Everyone!!
