Vacation Schedule

We will be leaving for vacation on 10/07/2011 and returning on 10/23/2011. This year we have decided to leave the store open. The homepage will show our vacation schedule, and you will still be able to place orders, but no orders will be shipped until we return on 10/23/2011.

If you need to place an order, please do so before we leave so that you can get your items in a timely manner.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up ahead of time, so that if you need supplies or whatever, order it now, so that you will get it.

08/28/2011 Hurricane Irene Update 8:00AM

The worst is behind us. Irene's Eye made landfall at 6AM this morning near Little Egg Inlet which is the southern portion of Long Beach Island. The winds were no factor at all here and on the island. Peak wind gusts were around 50 MPH, no where near the 70-100 MPH they predicted (typical for the media).

Right now we have light rain and minimal winds and are awaiting the back side of Irene to pass us by. The winds will pick up a little bit, and we will have moderate rains, but nowhere near what we experienced last night.

The major concern right now in our area is the flooding. We have a high tide this morning and most of the major waterways are at or above flood stage right now, and are expected to rise over the course of the day.

It was a very long night, especially with all the tornado warnings we were getting at the height of the storm. Most never materialized, but there were a few that did touch down causing damage but none in our immediate area.

The damage is very minimal here with tree limbs down, but nothing that cant be cleaned up quickly. I am awaiting a phone call from my buddy down on the island, but from what I am hearing so far, it is not bad at all. The normal flooding we always get from noreasters, but nothing catastrophic.

We were extremely lucky considering what this storms potential was.

Hurricane Irene Update

Due to the approach of Hurricane Irene, we have put all shipping on hold till at least Monday 8/29/2011 (at the earliest). We have evacuated our shore home (mandatory) on Long Beach Island, and have relocated to our home in Cherry Hill. The only problem we have is we are only 50 miles away from the shore, so we are still in the path of the system.

We will better know the extent of any damage once the system has passed us late Sunday. Hopefully it will be minimal. The only concern we have is the heavy rains. We have had record rainfall here in August, so the ground is saturated, and we have numerous large trees that are making me nervous.

Wish us well, and we will be in touch once this mess is over and done with. To everyone else on the east coast in the path of Irene be safe!

Jersey Coast Collectibles August Update

Greetings everyone! I know, I know, been very lapse in updating the announcements board and my blog. I have been plugging away adding inventory, and tweaking the site. Everything seems to be moving along just fine. Have not encountered a bit of problem (knock on wood).

I have a load of autographed photos that I have been adding to the site. I got in contact with a local collector who is a huge wrestling fan that was looking to downsize his collection. I purchased well over 400 signed photos that he acquired in person traveling around the country to different events. There is a huge variety here with some really big name guys from the past and present.

I was amazed at the collection he had. I would say well over 50% of his home was covered with wrestling memorabilia. It was a sight to see! There were photos, belts, chairs, posters, action figures, wrestling gear, you name it he had it! Talk about a man cave! This was practically his entire home!!

I also have added some signed football, baseball, and hockey photos. Still have a load of cards here that I have adding little by little. Vintage, autos, g/u and rookies. I also have a couple more sweet pieces on the way. Tie Domi signed hockey pants, and an Alice Cooper signed photo.

I also might have another local source for some quality items. He deals in cards and memorabilia also, and he might be able to hook me up with cards (cases and boxes). The plans are in the works, so stay tuned!

Vacation is slowly creeping up here, and I am debating whether to shut the shop down like I normally do, or keep it open. Let me know what your preferences are. Vacation this year will be the second two weeks of October.

We are keeping a close eye on Hurricane Irene at the moment. Looked fine yesterday, but today not so. It took a turn towards the north and is headed straight for the outer banks. That is not a good scenario for us here in jersey. If it keeps on the same track, it could be rather ugly here for us. Will know much better this coming weekend.

Blog Update 02/05/2011

So another couple months have come and gone, and we are still plugging away. We have had a brutal winter thus far here in Jersey, with the snow, ice and cold, we are ready to head to warmer climates. Problem is, there are less and less warmer climates to go to anymore. So much for global warming LOL!

We are still searching for a steady supplier for "quality" items at a decent price. Problem is everyone wants top dollar and they love to throw in thousands of junk cards to round out their collections. This proves to be a very difficult task, because by the time you sift through all the garbage, you wind up with just a handful of good stuff, and there is no way to recoup your investment.

I did pick up four fairly good lots here locally, but they never made it to the site. They got snatched up real fast. This is the reason that there has not been much added to my site lately. Not to worry, I do have more on the way that I guarantee will be on the site.

I also purchased some nice memorabilia pieces that will be here in a couple weeks.

They include:

Gary Carter Autographed Mets Jersey
Earl Campbell Autographed Oilers Jersey
Denny McClain Autographed Tigers Jersey
Joe Pepitone Autographed Yankees Jersey
Buck Owens Signed Index card
Helen Reddy Signed Index card
50+ Autographed Football 8x10 Photos

Anyone out there interested in selling their personal collections, and or have a nice lot they would like to sell, just shoot me an email. Keep in mind, I do not want any 80's or 90's stuff, and please provide a list of what you have. Any memorabilia pieces must be accompanied by a COA or LOA from a reputable company.

Right now I am looking for baseball, football, basketball, and hockey cards. Game-Used and Autos. No Commons!! Also keep in mind that I am just like the tv show "Pawn Stars" I need to make a buck too. LOL!! Although I am not as bad as Rick. He can be one tough cookie! I will pay a little more if need be, but I do not pay book value, and I do not base my offers on fleabay prices. I will give you a fair price.

Until next time, enjoy your day!

Happy Holidays from Jersey Coast Collectibles!

12/19/2010

Happy Holidays everyone! Not much has been going on here. We have been very busy, just like everyone else preparing for the holidays. Sure did sneak up on us fast this year didn't it? I still have been adding to the inventory, slowly but surely.

We did have one major setback, that really hit us by surprise. One of my major suppliers passed away suddenly last month. Not quite sure if anyone out there knew Adam Hogan aka gotgroovygoods on Ebay. He had his own card shop many years ago down in Destin Florida, then moved out to Las Vegas, then Colorado, then back to Florida again (sure moved around a lot and I kidded him about it all the time!) He will be sadly missed, and he definitely left us way too early.

I have been looking around, making calls, and trying to get another "reputable" steady supplier, but it is tough to find someone to fill Adams shoes. I have a few others that I deal with, and they will get me by for now, but the search will continue. I will continue to do the card show runs, but most of the dealers are virtually impossible to deal with. Every time I get home from these local shows, my stress level is through the roof! Then on top of that, the daily calls from people trying to sell 80's and 90's cards, just puts me over the edge. Attention!! I do not buy any 80's and 90's cards! They have no value to me, and when someone slips them into a lot I buy, they go straight into a "special" box marked charity. I donate them to local schools, hospitals, and churches. They have no resale value!

I did manage to pick up a few nice memorabilia items that will probably be here in a couple weeks. It is nearly impossible anymore trying to find quality pieces at a decent price.

Here is the rundown of what is coming in....

Jerry Rice autographed and framed photo

Mickey Mantle Mitchell & Ness Cooperstown Collection NY Yankees Jersey

Whitey Ford autographed baseball

Robin Roberts autographed baseball

Mia Hamm autographed soccer jersey

Jimmy Carter cut autograph

40 count lot of entertainment and political signed items

Tomorrow 12/20/2010, will be the cut-off date for orders guaranteed by Christmas. If anyone has last minute purchases to make in time for Christmas, make sure you get it in by tomorrow. We all know how backed up the mail is, so get your orders in quickly!

Until next time... Have a safe and Happy Holiday!
