May 2010 Update

A lot has been going on since my last blog. I know its been a few months since I have posted, but I just cant find the time to update my blog as often as I should.

I have been in the process of redoing my home office. Painting, new furniture, moving furniture, reorganizing the whole works! Everything is a total mess right now.

The biggest setback I had was my computer crashed, and then my laptop went, so I have been relying on an old backup I had here. The computer situation is back on course, with my new system arriving a few weeks back, I have had a little more time to be somewhat organized.

My office is coming along, just not quite there yet. I am still getting things organized little by little, and once this is set in place, its down to the storage area. A lot of work to do there too! I will be redoing the whole mess there too. A lot of shelving is in order, and trying to make it as efficient as I can.

It gets tough for a one man show at times, but I think I am doing the best i can under the circumstances. It is just very time consuming, with still having a day job and all. I did have a long meeting with my boss, and I decided I was going part time. The cut back in hours will greatly improve my devotion to the shop and will also give my back a rest. 35+ years of doing mechanical work has taken its toll, and I just cant do the things I used to many moons ago.

I still am getting new stuff in every week, so make sure you keep an eye on the new arrivals page. This past week I got in two dozen autographed baseballs, autographed guitar pickguards, some Heidi Klum pictures (she is still hot!) an Alice Cooper concert poster signed, some autographed index cards that I am putting together to send to PSA. Some big names!! Barak Obama, Richard Nixon, Muhammad Ali, Red Grange, Bobby Doerr, Chas Gehringer, Lou Boudreau, and many more!

Oh, I almost forgot, I also have a bunch of golf autographs. Photos, spectator guides, tickets. Some big names there too.

I also have a bunch of game-used and autographed cards on the way too.

So be patient with me, I am still plugging away, and I appreciate everyones business!!

Hopefully, when I get everything in order here, I will be able to update this blog more often.

Until next time....

February Updates

Just a quick update on what has been going on here at Jersey Coast Collectibles.

We still have a ton of stuff coming in on a weekly basis. It seems there are more sellers out there than buyers. LOL!!

We have added 2009 National Treasures, 2009 Topps Sterling, A mixed bag that incudes Triple Threads, Playoff, SP Legendary Cuts, Topps Tribute, Topps Unique, and much more.

We also got a large lot of Autographed Golf cards in if you are a PGA collector.

We just received an 800 card lot of pack certified and in person baseball and football cards. The box has been fun to go through and there are a lot of big name stars in there, along with minor leaguers and they even threw in some game used stuff!

The memorabilia hunt has been slow around my area, seems like everyone wants top dollar for everything! Even the card show dealers are tough to deal with. I did get a few things in so far. I have a couple Cleveland Indians signed mini helmets, a Jake LaMotta autographed 8x10, some more autographed baseballs; Steve Carlton, Tony Gwynn, Gaylord Perry, Jim Rice, and more.

I also have some railroad memorabilia on the way on consignment. They have a ton of amazing items! Rare books, scale railroad locos, and cars, hand made cars, and more. The Railroad collectible industry is on fire right now, so I agreed to post the stuff on my site for them. I will be adding a little each week to give you a taste of what is coming soon.

I have been adding more and more supplies. Seems like everytime I get an order in, I sell out right away. It has been tough to keep up, and with my supplier running out of stock, it has been a tough go trying to keep up.

The Pro-Mold PCPSquare Baseball holder is still out of stock, and has been pushed back till the end of February. I do have BCW square baseball holders that are the same in stock.

Pro-Mold 100ct, 150ct, and 400ct boxes are sold out indefinitely. Ouch! that hurts! They also discontinued the MH4UV magnetic holders (the 25yearUV) Why? I have no clue. They have decided to put it on the shelf and continue to sell the 5year UV instead.

I will try to update my blog more often, but with my day job and the recent blizzards we had here in jersey, it has kept me extemely busy.

Until next time...

I also have some vintage baseball cards that I picked up, some stars and hall of famers, some are graded.

In addition to those, I have a very nice Ken Griffey Jr autographed Gartlan statue, and a mint ticket from a 1950's Boston Braves game. I am debating whether or not to send it in to get graded, we will see.

Michael Vick Signs two year deal with the Eagles

Now this sure caught me off guard! I did hear rumors 2 days ago about it, but I never thought it would come to light.

This opens up a whole lot of scenarios for the Eagles offense. Just one more weapon added to a roster filled with explosive talent. Should be a very interesting season for a team that is hungry for that trophy!

Here is the link to the story.

The Philly Curse Continues

The Philadelphia Eagles are saddened to announce Jim Johnson has passed away this afternoon at the age of 68 after a courageous battle with cancer.

A veteran of 22 years as an NFL assistant, Johnson is regarded as one of the top defensive masterminds in National Football League history. Over the last decade, he gained a great deal of notoriety as the orchestrator of the renowned Eagles defense. His aggressive style kept Philadelphia at or near the top of the NFL in nearly every major defensive category since joining Andy Reid's staff on January 22, 1999.

From 2000-08, Johnson's units ranked 2nd in the NFL in sacks (390), 3rd down efficiency (34.0%) and red zone touchdown percentage (43.9%), and fourth in fewest points allowed (17.7 per game). During his 10-year tenure in Philadelphia, the Eagles earned seven playoff berths, five trips to the NFC Championship game and one Super Bowl appearance (following the 2004 season).

As the Eagles defensive chief, Johnson's defense has produced 26 Pro Bowl selections: Brian Dawkins (7), Troy Vincent (5), Jeremiah Trotter (4), Hugh Douglas (3), Lito Sheppard (2), Asante Samuel (1), Trent Cole (1), Michael Lewis (1), Corey Simon (1), and Bobby Taylor (1).

Four of his defensive assistants have gone on to successful careers with other NFL franchises: Steve Spagnuolo (head coach of the St. Louis Rams), John Harbaugh (head coach of the Baltimore Ravens), Ron Rivera (defensive coordinator of the San Diego Chargers) and Leslie Frazier (defensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings).

Prior to his tenure in Philadelphia, Johnson served as the linebackers coach with Seattle in 1998. That year, Johnson helped the Seahawks register 10 touchdowns on defense, including eight interceptions returned for scores, 2nd most in NFL history. He arrived in Seattle after a four-year stint in Indianapolis, the last two as defensive coordinator. While with the Colts, Johnson helped them secure a berth in the AFC Championship game at Pittsburgh in 1995.

Johnson spent eight seasons with the Arizona Cardinals (1986-93). After overseeing the Cards defensive line for four seasons, Johnson excelled as their secondary coach, helping Aeneas Williams become the first rookie cornerback to lead the league in interceptions (6) since 1981.

Johnson began his coaching career as head coach at Missouri Southern (1967-68), before serving four-year tenures at Drake and Indiana. From 1977-83, Johnson served as defensive coordinator and assistant head coach at Notre Dame, a stint that included a national championship in 1977.

An all-conference quarterback himself at Missouri (where he played in the same backfield with long-time NFL executive Bill Tobin), Johnson went on to spend two seasons with Buffalo as a tight end (1963-64).

A native of Maywood, IL, Johnson (born 5/26/41) earned a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in physical education from Missouri.

Johnson is survived by his wife, Vicky, two children, Scott and Michelle, and four grandchildren, Katie, Justin, Brandon, and Jax
